MUSIC - Kathy O'Leary 
Join Kathi O'Leary and her wonderful kid oriented music featuring "Molly the Moose" O'Leary came to Bonners Ferry with her husband in 1978 when she was 21, purchased property on Katka and has been there ever since. "I have been playing music most of my life," she said. "My oldest brother handed me a guitar when I was nine, and I took right to it." O'Leary has also been writing songs since she was a child. She wrote "I Wish my Dog was a Duck" when she was 12 and "The Onion Song" at 13, two favorites with local children. A self-taught musician, she always liked traditional music and varied instruments. At 39, she started playing the accordion and said she felt very drawn to Irish music because she loved the accordion and concertina sound. She played in the Libby, Mont.-based Shaughnessy Hill band for seven years. I'm happy to share because music can communicate all kinds of things," she says. "We are really blessed because this region has incredibly talented musicians who have a passion for their music. They do it because they love to do it and that really comes through in their performances. For most musicians, their passions are their priorities."
