Bonners Ferry Farmers Market Vendor Rules
All who wish to participate in the Market will complete and sign this application prior to setting up. This application will constitute an agreement between vendors and the Market to abide by the policies and rules of the Bonners Ferry Farmers' Market.
Please read and sign these rules and retain this sheet for yourself. The signature page will be collected yearly from each participating vendor on the first day of attendance at the Market.
1. Sellers pay a $15.00 Annual Fee per 1 space and 5% of gross Saturday sales. This is to offset expenses for advertising, on-site Idaho nursery license & liability insurance, City of Bonners Ferry business license, market website hosting, signs, market events, printing, postage and more. Annual Fee may be paid half first market and half 2nd market. Receipts are available at sign out, and contributions are welcome.
One time fee is $7.50 plus 5% of gross sales.
2. Market hours: Saturday at 8:00 am to 1:00 pm. Setup: 7:00 a.m., please no sales before 8:00, except vendors may buy from each other before the opening time.
3. Vendors shall sell only products that they themselves grow, harvest, create, or produce. Mushroom growers are required to have a permit. Please contact Panhandle Health District. Vendors may sell limited amounts of produce for other BFFM vendors on a temporary basis upon prior approval of the market manager. No reselling or selling for others is permitted. No garage sale, flea market or wholesale items.
4. Vendors must be residents of the contiguous counties/province including & bordering Boundary County: Boundary, Bonner counties, Pend Orielle Co. WA, Lincoln Co. MT, southern BC, all within 50 miles of Bonners Ferry.
5. All products must comply with state and local Health and ISDA rules. Please check their requirements to see how this applies to you.
- Baked or canned goods may need Health Department Permits except for the following non-potentially hazardous foods: breads, cookies, cakes, fruit pies, jams, jellies, candy and honey. The Market has a more detailed list.
- The sale of potentially hazardous foods (including but not limited to cut melon, raw seed sprouts, garlic-in-oil preserves, cooked plant food and raw or cooked meat) make the vendor a regulated food establishment and subject to the requirements of the Idaho State UNICODE. Therefore, those vendors need to obtain a license.
Vendors whose food types require licensing must have their actual farmers' market stand, equipment and services (includes kitchen) inspected by an Idaho Health District Environmental Health Officer. The Market will need to have copies of these licenses and inspections on file before sales can take place. Those vendors must post food establishment permits in plain view.Dairy products are regulated by the USDA and Idaho Department of Health. Please contact Panhandle Health District.
6. Vendors must be present during market times. You may substitute a family
member or on-farm employee occasionally if the need arises.
7. Producers must comply with all state & local laws, ordinances, and
regulations and those of the BFFM.
8. You are responsible for obtaining your own sales tax (numbers & collection) & product liability insurance. The Farmers Market has insurance that covers accidents only.
9. Vendor space is allotted on a first come first serve basis. The goal is to create a market layout that is complimentary to all vendors and to the market as a whole. Central core of the market consists of the full season vendors. Check in with the manager for placement.
10. Please take into consideration that you are part of your display. We aim for a clean, attractive look at the market. Please leave your space cleaner than you found it.
11. It is Mandatory that your set-up be wind-proof with weights and tied-downs on all 4 legs, to protect people from blow-overs on blustery days at the market. They must also stay within your 10'x10' space (including canopy legs), and not block access to other vendor's spaces.
12. All animals must be contained or on a leash at all times.
13. Should you encounter any problems, concerns, or conflicts please bring these discussions to the Market Manager- Michael Powers, or Board Liaison Officer. Any unresolved problems may be brought before the Board of Directors. This will ensure a relaxed atmosphere with good communication between all vendors.
I understand and have read the regulations regarding vendor food permits. I am required to make a copy of my permit or license if required, to be given to the Market Manager with my application, or on the first day of Farmers Market. I must post a copy of my permit at my booth in plain view.
